In 1818 Deming Jarves and his associates formed the New England Glass Company in E. Cambridge, MA.
1870 — William L. Libbey joined the company as sales manager.
1874 — Edward Drummond Libbey, son of W. L. Libbey, joined the firm.
1884 — Father and son became partners.
1892 — The name was changed to The Libbey Glass Company.
